Welcome to the project homepage for the linux port of Theodore Watson's and Zachary Lieberman's lasertagging software. The port is brought to you by syn2cat, the hackerspace in Luxembourg. The software has been tested with V4L and V4L2 cams. Firewire cameras should work as well because we use unicap internally. (Kudos to arturo for his amazing work on UCUtils and the openFrameworks VideoGrabber) We've run it successfully on default installations (plus all required packages, of course) of Ubuntu 8.10, 9.04 and Fedora Core 10.

It is a low-cost eye-tracking apparatus & custom software that allows graffiti writers and artists with paralysis resulting from Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis to draw using only their eyes.

November 16, 2009 Going evented with Node.js One of the most exciting presentations to come out of JSConf.eu was Ryan Dahl's presentation of his incredible Node.js project. Ironically we had just covered it at last week's NOVALANG session. I decided it would be a great article for Naked JavaScript in order to provide an nice introduction to Node.js and the broader topic of CommonJS as well. lender Live Shape (BLS) - Blender 3D object with real-time displacement modifier (similar to normal map) based on live grayscale video from webcam. How it works? * Processing script capture webcam and create grayscale images at fixed frame rate. Every frame is fallowed by data bit sended to port COM10. * Null-modem emulator (Com0com) send data from COM10 input to COM11 output. * Blender python API script (or Blender Game Engine script) refresh object texture with new image just created by processing program (data from COM11 make synchronization). * The same script refresh object displacement modifier with new texture, and also refresh Blender 3D window view. * This live modified object I called Bender Live Shape.

We live in exciting times for robotics. The first book I purchased , "Build Your Own Working Robot" by David L. Heiserman, describing the construction of a robot, dates from 1976. The robot was called Buster and there was not a CPU in sight - it was Op-Amps and TTL Logic all the way. Two years later, in 1978, Tod Loofbourrow published "How to Build a Computer Controlled Robot". This KIM1 (6502) powered beast used a 12v 84Ahr car battery for power. How times have changed. Now, hobbyists everywhere are building machines of varying complexity and capability. From small crawling insect like devices, to huge battle bots. Robot behaviour is becoming more intelligent, as AI and Neural Networks are increasingly used. Research in universities is filtering down. The descendants of Reading Universities famous "Seven Dwarfs" have been built by hobbyists from parts provided with Real Robots magazine. Research at Manchester Universities robotics department has produced a robot which can navigate the universities corridors and return to the lab. Exciting times indeed.
